Richmond's Little Free Libraries

Richmond's Little Free Libraries

Richmond and its surrounding counties have an abundance of Little Free Libraries, and with our summer mailer celebrating the joy of slowing down and enjoying a good book, we wanted to highlight just a few of these tiny gems in our area.

1103 N 35th St (Church Hill)

This library boasts not only books, but locally-made pottery! A perfect pairing for those who enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee while relaxing with a good read.

3200 E Broad St (Church Hill)

This library wins all the points for creativity. It's a mini version of the church just behind it! Plus, you can grab a book and head just across the street to lounge in Chimborazo Park.

1904 Southcliff Road (Westover Hills)

Just south of the river is another dual-purpose library. Not only can you grab a book (we even spotted some dvd's in there!), but there's also a handy setup for on-the-go bike repairs. Flanked by a monarch waystation garden, be sure to check this out next time you're heading down to float the James.

426 Roseneath Rd (Museum District)

This little library continues its Alice & Wonderland theme to the landscaping and sculptures throughout the front yard. It also boasts a separate little library dedicated to children's books, and a dog toy sharing box, complete with a water bowl to keep your pup hydrated. Be sure to wave hi to Skelē across the street!

3915 Kensington Ave (Colonial Place)

This one doesn't quite fall under the library category, but we wanted to give a shoutout to this art library tucked into Colonial Place. Grab a drink from Reviresco Coffee down the block after you've added to your art collection!

1300 block of Claremont Ave (Bellevue)

Another twist on a little library is this Little Art Museum in Bellevue. You can keep up with its rotating exhibits at the instagram account @claremont_little_art_museum, and be sure to enjoy the Shakespeare-themed "Peepshow" currently on display!

These are just a handful of the dozens and dozens of Little Free Libraries in our area. If you want information on how to start your own, here's a helpful site! You can also track down some in the area by checking out the @lflhunter_rva instagram account, or the Little Free Library map.
